These are the original Dolsot Bibimbap Bowls by Spiceberry Home - Granite Stone Bowl used for Korean Cooking and Recipes especially Rice Bibimbap. In Korean, Dolsot translates as "stone pot". This dish is served by adding cooked rice and a variety of meats and vegetables to a very hot stone bowl which has been lightly oiled. Gojujung, a Korean style chili sauce is also traditionally added. The rice will cook against the sides of the hot bowl and become crisp, crunchy and delicious. Three of our bowls include rustic wood bases so that the hot bowl can be placed on the table. Our most popular bowls are the first two, shown below in sets of either 2 or 8. We also have specialty bowls with lids and an economical high temperature, flameproof ceramic alternative.
These are all individual size bowls, 32 Ounce, about 4 pounds each, 7-1/4 Inches across on top (18cm). Important Note: Keep in mind that these are made of natural stone, and the pattern of the stone may vary from the photo. There is a simple seasoning process similar to cast iron that you'll need to do. The bowls will darken after this first seasoning. Seasoning instructions and recipes are included.
Cleanup is easy: Just use course salt and water, just like cast iron. We suggest avoiding soap since it may flavor the slightly porous stone. For the same reason, using the bowls for soup broths is not suggested.
We are one of the largest stone bowl suppliers in the USA. We specialize in sales of Korean style cookware to restaurants and markets.
